Here is a simple post to get things going.
Everyone watches college sports and everyone knows their favorite team colors. Not all, however, pay attention to their school's official athletic logo.
Here are a few of my favorites along with the ones I wish would go away.
TOP 10
10. Appalachian State
How can you portray and southern fellow that lives in the backwoods of Appalachia? App St. carved him into a mountain. His face is rather neutral which is a lot better than the alternative....
9. Georgia Southern
With all the Eagles, Tigers, Bears, and Bulldogs out there, Georgia Southern took a generic mascot and made it original. The color scheme along with the fact he looks ready to eat your ass alive makes it look patriotic to me as well.
8. Southern Mississippi
Another Eagle, though technically a Golden Eagle. Few logos this simple scream college sports and look good on anything you see them on.
7. Kent State
OK, I'm on a bit of a bird kick. I have not a clue in hell what a Golden Flash is but the logo looks cool.
6. Connecticut
So much hostility in the logo world these days. It's good to see an animal that's had its rabies shot and knows how to behave. I actually want to pet this little fellow, then watch the women's basketball team beat the hell out of someone.
5. Central Florida
Oh yeah, true bad ass. He's got muscles through his armor!
4. South Florida
Bull horns atop the letter 'U'
Think of the ways you can screw up a bull logo... And the ways you can screw up the letter 'U'...
3. Southern Utah
Outside of using the popular car jumping through flames, SUU did a good job with this one.
2. Army
True bad asses deserve a bad ass logo.
1. Louisiana-Lafayette
There are several reasons Louisiana-Lafayette is my favorite. 1) I can't think of any other school that makes their school name possessive. 2) No other symbol identifies a culture and community better than the fleur-de-lis. 3) Ragin' Cajuns is a very cool and very unique nickname. 4) IT HAS A FREAKIN' PEPPER FOR AN APOSTROPHE!!!!

5. Arkansas-Pine Bluff
What the HELL is that? Oh, I get it. It say UAPB in his hair.... yeah.
4. Austin Peay
Anyone else think Associated Press?
3. Ole Miss
Old, outdated, and dumb.
2. Oregon State
Fear the BEAVER!!!
1. Youngstown State
Awww, look. It's a penguin... in Ohio? Awww, and he's wearing a scarf. You look cold little penguin.... OUCH!!! That mean SOB bit me!!!!
OK, that was lame... just like the mascot and logo.
